ENERGY SAVING DOUBLE GLAZED WINDOWS

Double glass windows for practical living
If you are looking for windows, those in double glass might be a good idea. Double glass windows are
those which have two glass panes facing each other and have an air gap in between them. This gap might
be filled with air or an inert gas like argon. Argon has better insulating properties than ordinary air and is
therefore a popular choice. Double glass windows are also known as double glazed windows.
The good thing about double glass windows is that they also easily lend themselves to glass designs.
For instance, if you have glass designs which call for a tall glass screen, it is better to use double glass since
it’s sturdy. You can also use stained
glass paintings and conserve them for
longer with double glass. Here the
stained glass painting is covered by
another sheet of glass. This prevents it
from fading and also does not accumulate
dust. You can also use glass designs
such as laser cutting your favourite
motif on any one, or both sheets of glass.

Advantages of double
 glass windows:

Sound proofing: Since there are two
sheets of glass here and both are
 separated by argon, these windows
successfully block off quite a lot of noise. These are ideal for homes, hospitals,
schools and offices. So if you live in a congested, noisy neighborhood, this might be a good idea for you.
Water proofing: Since there are two glass panes, there’s very little chance that rain water will be able to
seep through. That’s why double glass windows are also good for areas that see a lot of rainfall.
Security: Double glazed windows are sturdy and are tough to break through. The therefore provide
more security than single paned windows. It is no wonder then that more and more builders are using
 these in several new constructions.
Energy-efficiency: One of the biggest merits of double glass windows is that they are highly energy
efficient. Since they have strong insulating properties, they do not transfer heat easily. That means that
even if it is scorching hot outside the heat will not be transferred indoors. Similarly, if its moderately cold
outside, the warmth inside your home will not be taken away by the chilling temperatures outside.
Therefore you’re A/C and heating will not have to work as hard, saving plenty of energy for the
environment and costs for you.
